Do you identify as a Strong Black Woman? Have you felt burdened by the weight of being strong? Are you feeling the cumulative effects of racism, sexism, the pandemic, police brutality, and being strong? If this resonates, Masks Off is for you!

Masks Off is an annual wellness conference hosted by The SBW Wellness Collaborative. Our mission is to encourage self-care and a holistic approach to health and wellness among Black women.

We cultivate a safe virtual space for Black women to talk about strength– what strength means, when we feel strong, and ways to foster healthy strength in our lives.

This year’s conference is being hosted through a virtual space for the third time! Connecting with Black women across the country, and maybe even the world, we encourage vulnerability, community support, and emphasize the role of self-care for living healthy, whole, and successful lives.

This year’s conference theme is Masks Off: Connection Syrergy, and Rest!

The wellness conference kicks off with a discussion about the impact of the Strong Black Woman schema on the lives of Black women, especially in the context current events and an ongoing pandemic. This intimate conversation allows a space for black women to put down the cape and get real about the costs and burden of strength.

Our three wellness sessions will follow. They include sessions regarding wellness of the mind, body, and spirit. Start your morning off by learning about how your mind impacts your decisions and wellbeing. And take an afternoon physical activity break by connecting to your body through movement. The third wellness session is all about connecting to you your spiritual wellness, completing the mind-body-spirit connection.

The final session of the day puts it all together with a discussion about creating a life style of self care.

Facilitators: A dynamic group of Black women mental health and wellness professionals!

——

Sis, take off your mask for a while. Let us feed you – your heart, mind, and soul with this wellness conference created by and for Black women.
