July 22 – Black Girls Code Los Angeles Summer Camp

Participants will learn about topics and tools shaping the tech industry today, and express themselves with creative projects that put their new skills to work.Participants will learn about topics and tools shaping the tech industry today, and express themselves with creative projects that put their new skills to work.

This year’s themes will enable campers to learn about Gaming, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Climate, workplace skills, and mental health practices.

For participants aged 11-18
Camps will run all day, Monday through Friday (no weekends).

Campers will:

  • get to meet industry experts who will come speak about their work
  • receive breakfast and lunch every day of camp
  • learn wellness and mental health practices through ongoing sessions
  • make new friends!

Campers will learn about topics related to climate change and get the opportunity to explore these environmental issues creatively through gaming. Using AI for inspiration, campers will develop their own Afrofuturist mini-game centered around a sustainability topic of their choosing. In addition to coding workshops, they will engage with industry experts across the science and technology industries, and take part in confidence-building workshops and wellness sessions focused on mental health.

Campers will leave with a comprehensive understanding of STEAM careers and potential paths they can explore, technical and coding skills tied to the camp themes, and the confidence and interpersonal skills needed to thrive in their future workplaces.
