Organizations, service providers and small businesses working to strengthen Black communities across Los Angeles County have an opportunity to apply for funding through the 2026 AAIMM Village Fund.
Applications are now open, with a deadline of Friday, October 16, 2026, at 5 p.m. PT.
The Village Fund is part of Los Angeles County’s African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) Prevention Initiative, a collaborative effort created to address disparities in birth outcomes affecting Black mothers and babies in Los Angeles County.
Who Can Apply?
The funding opportunity extends beyond traditional nonprofit organizations. Eligible applicants include:
- Independent and fiscally sponsored nonprofit organizations
- Networks and coalitions
- Individual service providers
- Micro-enterprises
- Small businesses
Applicants must be located and operating in Los Angeles County, and Village Fund dollars must be used to serve Black communities within the county.
Priority consideration will be given to organizations and businesses that are Black-led and Black-centered. Applicants should also have an established history of working with Black families and demonstrate an intentional commitment to supporting and empowering Black people.
Why the Village Fund Matters
The Village Fund is connected to a larger effort to improve outcomes for Black mothers, babies and families in Los Angeles County.
According to the AAIMM initiative, significant racial disparities continue to exist in maternal and infant health outcomes. The initiative brings together public agencies, community organizations and other partners to address those disparities while investing directly in organizations working within Black communities.
For smaller community organizations and service providers, programs such as the Village Fund can also provide an opportunity to access funding that may otherwise be difficult to obtain through traditional grant programs.
How to Apply
Applicants are encouraged to prepare their responses offline before entering them into the online application portal.
Required materials vary depending on the type of applicant, but organizations should carefully review the application instructions and funding requirements before submitting.
The application period closes October 16 at 5 p.m. PT. Award decisions are expected by December 16, although the review period could extend into January 2027 if the fund receives more than 50 applications.
Organizations and entrepreneurs serving Los Angeles County’s Black communities are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements now rather than waiting until the final days before the deadline.
