Los Angeles has a diverse community with approximately 8% being of African American descent. Because the LA area is such a sprawling metropolitan, we do not have just one area that is prominently African American. There are many black “pockets” throughout the city; some better known than others. In our neighborhood guide, we will feature different pockets of the city, giving you an insight from a native Angeleno point of view. Some areas will be known for their culture and others for their food. But LA has a rich and vibrant history and we welcome you to explore Black Los Angeles.
