2020 MIT OpenDocLab & BPMplus Fellowship Submissions Extended to Aug. 23rd

Submit Your Documentary Idea

Are you a Black documentary filmmaker, journalist, developer, or artist? Submit your documentary or nonfiction idea that uses AI, AR, 3D, mocap, etc., to our semester-long, remote fellowship, which provides $7,500 and is supported by MIT Open Documentary Lab, MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology & Black Public Media. One Black storyteller will be chosen for the 2020 MIT OpenDocLab & BPMplus Fellowship.

Your documentary or nonfiction project or idea should use emerging technology or use ‘old tech’ (projections, multichannel video, console video games, VFX, 3D, etc.) in new or inventive ways. Fiction stories are not eligible for the MIT Open Documentary Lab.

Previous emerging tech production experience is not required, but having at least one high-tech or frontier tech project on your resume will make your application stronger.

Application

Black creatives based outside the U.S. are welcome to apply. Part-time and full-time students are not eligible for this fellowship.

Apply here. The application is free. Apply by 11 PM EST on Aug 23, 2020.

The virtual fellowship runs Sept 8, 2020, to Jan. 29, 2021.

RSVP to this Eventbrite event or our Facebook event to receive updates about the fellowship.
